To those users running HPOpenDesk and using the user interface;

We were recently informed that HP discovered a problem with the user interface
in HPOpenDesk (all current releases). Apparently, the user interface will no
longer run after 12/31/99 - it stops dead with a message about the product
being "out of date" (which, of course, it isn't).

I understand that a patch is available to fix this; OD3013 (that's OD as in
OpenDesk), which you should be able to get from your normal channels at HP.
The patch may (but likely will not) make it into an official "push"
distribution, so you should plan on requesting it if you plan on using
HPOpenDesk after 12/31/1999.

On a related note, there may also be issues (though not as severe) with the
OpenDesk cc:Mail client in the 2000 year which may or may not get fixed by
HP. If there are users out there using this client (and planning to keep using
it in 2000, I'd be happy to forward requests back to our contact in the labs).
E-mail me directly (remember to remove 'nospam' from the address) and I'll
forward your notes on for consideration.

FYI/HTH/yadda yadda/etc. :-)
