Thanks to all who shared their experience and knowledge regarding CM
KSAM and KSAM XL. I have decided to recommend that we make the move to
KSAM XL.

Thanks to Robert Mills for posting the information about how KSAM XL
uses the Transaction Manager.

Tony Summers warned of a possible performance problem with KSAM XL when
a lot of reads are being done. I don't think that will affect us.

Mike Hornsby pointed out that switching to KSAM XL might not be such a
good idea if we were still using CM COBOL. Fortunately, we converted
all our COBOL to NM years ago.

Paul Christidis shared a technique whereby recovery of CM KSAM files
could be done automatically when the system is restarted after an
abnormal shutdown. I probably won't be using it for KSAM file recovery,
but I may well use his idea for other purposes.

Thanks again to all who responded.
