Al,
The "ENTER" key (from the numeric keypad) really isn't a character that is
sent, it's actually a function that is executed. Unless it's been set to
"ENTER=RETURN", it actually initiates a block transfer. You can initiate
this programmatically by sending and ESC+"d".
It transmits a "block" of data (either the current line, or page depending
on settings). It's most commonly utilized by VPLUS in Block Mode, but can
use (As Wirt has eloquently pointed out) in "LINE MODIFY" or "MODIFY ALL"
mode for local terminal edits.
More that you ever wanted to know...The terminal references for the
emulator/terminal you may be using probably has a great description of this
behavior under "Block mode" or "Block transfers".
BTW, the WRQ manuals are downloadable in PDF format from their website:
http://www.wrq.com.
RAT "sometimes I really miss serial connections...."

Subject: ASCII representation
Greetings, people of the eHP3K world. Today's missive involves ASCII
representation.
What would be the ASCII representation of the 'Block Mode' <numeric>
enter key?
