Has anyone had any experience with an RS12/FC. This is a fibre channel raid
controller. I have 12 drives each in two chassis with a fibre channel
controller in each.

I'm trying to figure out the best setup for redundancy and performance. In
my performance testing I am maxing out at 68 MB/sec read rate. Whether I
have a RAID 0+1 across 4 drives or RAID 0 across 8 drives, no difference. I
tried two RAID 0's across 4 drives each, and softwaore stripe them using
Win2k, still same performance, maybe 1 MB/sec faster.

So where is my bottleneck. The firbe channel is 100MB/sec. So is the loss in
overhead on the FC protocol? Maybe the controller can't handly any faster
transfers no matter how many drives I have. These are 160 MB/Sec scsi
drives, by the way. I don't think is a bus issue on the PC. I've tried a
generic old Pentium 233 and a Netserver XEON 550 4 Processor with a
controller in a 64bit slot. Still same performance.

Any insight or opinion?
