My first thought was a memory of the movie Good Will Hunting in which Matt
Damon's character pokes fun at a Harvard student with something akin to
"does it bother you that you've spent $150,000 on an education you could
have gotten for $10 in late fees paid to the local library?".

Mr. H sounds to have been of the $10 variety and the world got the benefit.
