taking a closer look at /set vis save, I discover that what *I* really want
is "/set vis save 1", which loads the keylabels at first /vis, and leaves
them that way until /exit.
that'll work perfectly in my case, since my typical R1 scenario is
1) do roughly eight logons using fkeys loaded with 'hello', 'dsline',
'remote'
2) invoke QE from almost each of those, sometimes use /vis
3) sometimes run user programs (which also save & restore fkeys)
4) exit QE & bye.
with the added benefit that the QE fkey labels will still be there when I'm
in character mode, where they're quite handy.
