Subject HP Chronicle article talks about the latest and
greatest Common Oject Request Broker Architecture
(CORBA) version 2.0, and how HP is a major player
in the associated Object Management Group (OMG).
Various other popular acronyms such as GIOP, OSF,
DCE, TCP/IP, OMA, & ORB are well-sprinkled through
the piece; for details on these areas see the article.
Focus on the last paragraph in the piece, which says:
"OMG's board of directors voted to adopt a C++
Mapping to CORBA Interface Definition Language.
This will enable programs written in the C++ language
to map directly into CORBA ORBs, giving C++ programs
the benefits of CORBA's distributed capabilities."
........ Another reason HP should bringing C++ to the
HP3000, without waiting for a critical mass of users
to pick up their verbal and literary C++ baseball bats.....
