While it appears that H&L will remain on the HP3000 for the next 5
years (or longer) we are none-the-less continuing to investigate
vendor independent alternatives.  One of which is referred to in the
subject line above.

Does anyone on the list have any information to share regarding
this open-source, Python based, applications suite/RAD?  It is
clear that this project is not yet ready for prime time but it looks as
if it might have some considerable interest to us within the next few
years.

Without wishing to touch off a language jahid, comments on the
relative merits of Python and Java (or other commonly used
programming tools freely available on Linux)  for programming
business applications would also be appreciated.
