Barry:

I sold a C40 printer (basically the same as your C30) to a customer with
similar output volume and they had similar problems. The printer was a
lemon.  I worked with the customer to get HP to replace the C40 printer
with a D640.  It took over a year of frustration but we finally made it
happen.  The D640 has been better, but not ideal.  If you purchased the
C30 in the last year or so, you might ask your Channel Partner what they
can do for you.

As for alternatives, I would think seriously about using a farm of
networked LaserJet Si Printers with appropriate stackers.  They are much
better performers and you will have rendundancy in case one fails.
