While I'm sure that others will point out many of the alternatives
available for developing GUI applications on the HP e3000, Cognos is just
one of the companies committed to delivering tools to developers on this
platform that enable you to deliver both Web-based and Windows-based
clients while safely running your applications on robust HP e3000 servers
using TurboIMAGE, ALLBASE/SQL and KSAM data.

As many of our customers and partners have told us, our Axiant 4GL IDE
(integrated development environment), based on the popular PowerHouse 4GL
and running on Windows PCs, has effectively levelled the playing field for
them when it comes to retaining and recruiting development staff for their
HP e3000 environments. They can now give their developers a Windows IDE to
work in (just like the organizations they are competing with in the labor
market, who are perhaps offering the opportunity to work with Visual Basic
or Microsoft's Visual Developer Studio) while at the same time building and
deploying the applications developed to the PowerHouse 4GL server engine
running on their HP e3000s, with efficient native access to all of the data
held on that platform.

They can also now use PowerHouse Web on the HP e3000 as a target deployment
environment -- delivering the user interface through any popular Web
browser since PowerHouse Web only uses standard HTML...no plug-ins, ActiveX
controls or Java applets needed. And again, the application runs on the HP
e3000 with efficient native access to all of the data held there.

If you would like more information about these potential solutions perhaps
you'd care to visit the Cognos web site (http://www.cognos.com/hp3000)
where you can read a lot more about the PowerHouse solutions, download the
current product documentation, and request a copy of the latest product
demo CD-ROM. Cognos has been supplying its popular high-productivity
application development tools to the HP e3000 community since 1979, keeping
them current with platform and database developments ever since, and is
still fully committed to this popular business platform.

Best regards,
Conrad
