whenever I listen or read about this, I hear from GWB: Stay the course.
Even so I have no idea what that course is and it was never mentioned.
Right from the beginning I read&heard: STAY THE COURSE
WHAT COURSE? 

From most others I hear: 
give us a time-frame
give us an estimate of the costs, 
make a plan, in case it doesn't work out (Very possible)

When I recall the election-campaigne, George and Dick both told that we 
would reduce troops, that cost would be below 300 billion.
I remember the attack by Dick when Edwards mentioned 300 Billion at least 
at total cost.

Therefore it seems to me, that George, Dick, Rummy and that bunch have no 
clue, no plan and no idea. Maybe it is true, that they want to fight the 
Vietnam war again. Neither one of them was there and knows.
