This statement is getting quite tedious.

If Intel had any intention of continuing to produce Alphas, they would have
stated so, and already done so. They don't. Intel isn't quite as stupid as
Compaq, and would begin talking about a future product long before it's
available. Just look at all the talk about IA-64, and for how long the talk has
been going on. Intel, like Microsoft, isn't afraid to pre-announce long before
a product is real, in hopes of stiffling the competition, who may be ahead of
them. Intel would not keep quiet about such activity. Alpha is dead. RIP!

Many of the things in Alpha would not work so well in EPIC. I'm not sure what
would work well in EPIC. Its very possibly one of those things that get tried,
and don't work out so well. Like the VAX 9000 and such. That's natural
selection at work. Unfortunately, too many people have staked reputations, and
more, on this idea, and won't admit that it's a failure.

When Hammer takes over as 'Industry Standard' and Intel scrambles to stay in the
game with Yamhill, or whatever, you won't see any more 'few more billion' being
spent on IA-64.
