Since I get the digest and it will probably come tonight I am sure that I am
not the first with this thread - which I just read in the Sacramento Bee
(www.sacbee.com)

I think though perhaps a good discussion could be had with "would HP have
been better without her or has she done some good?"

Certainly the acquisition of Compaq benefited Compac far more than HP - they
didn't topple Dell as was the hype.

But brutal as it sounds I don't believe HP could have continued the "no
layoff" policy they had for decades - in this environment.

I do think without a Carly influence our 3000s would not be orphans.

it was an interesting article in the Business Section - taken from a NY
Times writer.
