A very arrogant, macho man was visiting another country.
He heard stories of a Guru nearby that had a reputation to be
completely unoffendable. Well, the man couldn't pass this up
so he sought out the Guru. Upon his arrival at the temple he
proceeded to insult and disrpect the Guru in every possible way.
Through out the whole interaction the Guru remained calm and
uneffected.

The man couldn't believe it and he said to the Guru, "You know,
I get this whole spiritual thing about not caring what other people
think, but I direspected you. You should learn to stand up for yourself."

The Guru responded, "My son, I'd like to ask you two questions.
One, if I offer you a gift and you refuse to accecpt my gift, to
whom does that gift still belong?"

The man says, "Well, I guess if I refuse it then it still belongs to you."

"Correct," said the the Guru. "Now here's my second question. If I
refuse to accept your abuse, to whom does it still belong?"
