I'm trying to create a new group on a client's machine on their PROD volume set but MPE is giving me attitude.
When I tried a:
NEWGROUP MYGROUP;ONVS=PROD
I got an error:
Duplicate name in directory. (CIERR 906)
LISTF, LISTFILE, REPORT, and SHOWVOL don't show the new group. Neither does an ls command in the posix file space.
I created the group without the ONVS parameter, and the group was created successfully. I tried an ALTGROUP with ONVS=PROD and it didn't give any error but it left the group on the system volumeset.
I did a PURGEGROUP and tried to recreate it but I still get the duplicate name error.
Then I tried to create it on a different volumeset with:
NEWGROUP MYGROUP;ONVS=HISTORY
That seemed to work (no errors), but I still couldn't see the group with REPORT. A PURGEGROUP reported Non-existent group. (CIERR 908). Now when I try to create it again with:
NEWGROUP MYGROUP;ONVS=HISTORY
I'm back to:
Duplicate name in directory. (CIERR 906)
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? I don't want to play this game any more.
