There's been a lot of discussion recently, and over the past few months,
about certification for MPE people. I'd like to get a sense of what people
are looking for in a certified person, and what they might think would be
the benefits if they went and got themselves branded.
So, think about the following questions, and let's get some discussion going...
If you were the manager of a HP3000 shop, and you received a resume from
someone who had HP Certified MPE (Engineer? Manager?) on their list of
accomplishments, what sort of things would you expect that person to be able
to do right off the bat? Describe the sort of problem that you would expect
them to be able to solve with little or no assistance. What sort of
position/job-title would you expect to offer them?
If you had spent some time and $$ getting this brand spanking new label,
what sort of job title/position would you envisage being qualified for, and
how would you try and equate life-experience to this qualification? How many
years of trench warfare would make up for not having this badge?
