Yes, your thoughts are mirrored ( by both vendors) as this is the only
suggestion they have supplied (not shadowing at all, but ftp'ing it
nightly) and I surmised in the event that no one can add a 100% solution to
shadowing the file, that I will have to perform a hybrid solution with
shadowing by day and subsequent nightly store, ftp, site stream restore and
resync job as you suggested. Thank you for your thoughts.

I've never tried doing what you mention, but if you're satisfied that
everything is in order until your nightly backup (it would concern me
that this would not always be the case since neither vendor will tell
you that this is supported), perhaps you can take a few minutes after
the backup has completed to run a job which will copy the file to the
shadowed system and reset the resync flag.
