Customer's site was setting up for ftp services for the first time.
After running FTPCNFJ.ARPA, checking SERVICES.NET, INETDSEC.NET and
INETDCNF.NET using another working system as an example making sure ftp
21/tcp and specific IP address blocks allowed in INETDSEC and starting
JINETD.NET the system:

1 - will establish an ftp connection to itself after what seems to be
something needing to timeout (takes about 1.5 minutes before getting
the login prompt)
2 - shows in the $stdlist the connection attempts for network
connections but they never get the login prompt
3 - logs to FTPLOG.ARPA getting NetIPC errors, connection reset by peer

This system is a 989 running 7.0 pp1 and never had ftp services set up,
also we're not planning on running telnet but a test got the same delay
and no login prompt.

Any ideas on what would be hanging the ftpsrvr process giving the slow
response for login prompt?
Could the network connection attempts be timing out causing the NetIPC
errors and 'connection reset by peer' as I suspect? The connections
attempted have been ftp in a dos window.

I'm sure it's something simple that someone on this list will spot
within a second or two (it's been a long day....). Thanks!
