I tried the build at a smaller size (2000) and got the same result.  I also
tried using a different disk drive altogether and still go the same error.

Well, I can't get my hands on a working 3000 right now. But -542/143 could
be the key. Couldn't that be fragmentation on your volume set ? Dump files
have to be, IIRC, 32 extents at most.
