The foundation of the year 2000 problem wasn't actually started by the
Jews. It was started by the Catholics when the Pope insisted on
establishing the calendar in reference to the birth of Jesus. The
Christian world followed suit and adopted the Pope's calendar. And now
western civilization has passed it on to the rest of the world through
technology.

What have we wrought?

The calendar could have been invented by Moe, Larry or Curly,
have 360 day years, 60 day months, 25 hour days, ... and the
situation would be the same. We are just unfortunate (technically
speaking) that a new century is upon us.

However, I would feel much more warm and fuzzy if it were 1949.
But then, what havoc this would reek on split century routines
;-).
