The latest version makes it easy to run the thing w/ an unprivlidged account (on Wwindows, anyway). Once you install the BOINC client, you can participate in other projects, and some of them have larger memory footprints than SETI, though you can probably set the max ram allocation in the settings somewhere.

            My 13 year old wants to download the software to participate
in the SETI project.  I thought I'd see if anyone else has checked this
