Unfortunately, I don't have a solution but I do have a problem with this
announcement.
With all due respect to the vendors who provide LAN spooling products, IMO
*before* HP dropped HPIB support from their latest product offering, they
should have incorporated an MPE-level LAN printing solution into the FOS
and a LAN I/O upgrade card for the 2567-class printer.
As it stands, I presume in order to support a high-speed printer like this
on a 9x9 box one would have to (1) get some type of LAN <-> HPIB adapter
(if, in fact, one exists); (2) purchase a 3rd party software product to
provide LAN spooling.
The LAN-based spooling product should act at least as well as the
HPIB-connected printers do now, with regard to jam detection and recovery
capability.
I know it's easy to stand on the side and complain, but this is one
situation where I can't help but ask what someone was thinking (or not
thinking) when this decision was made.
