Since this is an HP3000 list, I'm assuming you're running MPE. The question
needs to be answered with another question: why would you want to do such
a thing?

In the case of MPE, code is shared by definition and therefore, non-modifiable.
This happens to be one of the ways that many Un*x machines have their security
compromised. MPE doesn't suffer from that malady and also explains one of the
many reasons it is so robust.

Perhaps if you answer the question about why, another way can be suggested to
accomplish your goals.
