As a college, we are looking to implement a system which would allow us to
notify students of class cancelletions, special events, etc. The best
analogy I can think of would be the flight arrival/departure overhead
monitors installed at strategic locations in airports; i.e., single entry of
data at a master console, multiple output display units.
 
While we could develop such a system in-house, I would be interested in
knowing if anyone out there is aware of an available package on the market
to achieve these objectives. The preferred platforms would be MPE/ix or Windows.
