Subject: Model 20 Array - Mirror or Raid?

We're upgrading from a model 10 to a model 20
Nike array. (There's a glut of these, and they
were REAL cheap.)

I'm in the middle of deciding whether keep it
in hardware RAID configuration or to switch to
MPE/iX mirroring, since one can now do it on
the System volume set. (It wasn't when the
system was first bought, so we stayed with the
Nike hardware RAID.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Since when could you mirror the system volume set. I know lots of
people have asked for it, but I don't believe HP ever said yes. Their
solution was hardware mirroring.

Excerpt of the Mirror/ix manual

Now that the mirrored volume set has been created and contains accounts
and groups, you can move files to that set. Since the system volume set
cannot be mirrored, data on the system volume set that is to be mirrored
must be moved to a mirrored volume set. Use the STORE command to move
files from the system volume set to the mirrored volume set. Refer to
the MPE/iX Commands Reference Manual Volumes 1 and 2 (32650-90003 and
32650-90364) for more information on moving files.
