Subject: [HP3000-L] Need Help

Hello ,
Im new in mpe ,I work with old hp-3000 computers ,and i try to copy a
database file from the HP to the PC.

There is a small problem
How can i convert the data from the database file to text file before i
copy it

thanks..
.......................
Stan,
I have similar problem.

I could find a place where HP 6250 bpi tapes can be read into an UNIX box.

What is the structure of a STORE [dbstore] tape?
Did you built compression tricks in it?
Can you give me the description of old HP real numbers?
Have you an algorithm, which converts the bits representing HP real
numbers to bits used under PC or
Unix? (I have read about IEEE reals. Is is a new standard of real numbers
valid for PC-s, UNIX boxes, so if I write a binary real number from
e.g Turbo Pascal, then C on Unix will interpret them correctly?

If you can answer then I need not to write my own databse stoge and
compression program, monitoring end-of-tape, converting reals and
integers, to ascii
strings, stripping trailing spaces, and using devil-knows-which
compression tricks.

                        Many many thanx in advance.
