From my understanding with PA-Risc machines, the more the better. When we
one of the early 950 machines, we were told that it would be 2 to 10 times
faster than our maxed out 70. After receiving the machine, we tested the
performance. No matter what we did, it got no faster than 1.2 - 1.5 times
faster. HP sent in 4-5 engineers and when they came they brought as much
memory as it would hold, which at that time was 256 or 512 MB. The machine
screamed. After which we purchased more memory. It came with 16MB we added
another 32 I believe, or the total was 32 can't remember.

James

But keep in mind the law of diminishing returns.

Subject: Memory Upgrade?

Some time ago, I was trying out the Lund package (which I couldn't
convince management to buy) and it showed bottlenecks with disc and
memory. I have since taken care of the disc problem and am considering
upgrading memory.

I have a 927LX with 8 gig of disc space and 96 meg of memory and up to
20 concurrent users. Most applications are homegrown using Turboimage,
with one application using Speedware and Allbase. As I understand it,
the more memory I add, the more fruitful the disc caching COULD be.
What would be a reasonable amount of memory to add?
