Security/3000 from VESoft CAN do this! The first bullet is more
difficult than the second, as the second bullet is described in the
VESoft manual.

Since the second bullet is easy, I'll just reply to the first...

There is some configuration required of course, as you would do with any
other product. Some creativity is also required. (I also checked this
out with VESoft Tech Support.)

First, create a new field in the Security/3000 user profile say...
"NUMLOGON" and have the Security/3000 logon UDC add to it every time the
user logs on (My technical detail here is vague). Put a conditional in
the UDC to invoke VESoft's password change routine when this new
NUMLOGON field reaches the limit you want.

Last time I checked, Security/3000 was only "approximately" twelve
hundred bucks. Less for additional platforms.

Subject: Security re User Passwords

A question for all you experts...

We've been discussing certain security aspects here, specifically
for the HP3000. There are (at least) two goals:

 - specify a number of sign-ons (preferrably allowed to set number by
Userid), after which the user is prompted for a new password.

 - limit number of concurrent sign-ons under same Userid, if possible,
by time of day (i.e. limit of 10 "USERX" 9am - 4pm)

So far, we know of one pkg: HP Security Monitor, from HP. Problem
is we don't know much about it, including price.

Any experience with this or other pkgs for the HP3000 that are
capable of the above and more? Price is a big issue too. We
couldn't justify a big price tag. Any info/suggestions would be
appreciated.

TIA,
Debbie
