    We do this kind of thing all the time.  Below is the code that can be
run from within FTP to create/send the file:
 
:comment Create Year, Month, and Day variables.
:setvar YR rht("00!HPYEAR",2)
:setvar MTH rht("00!HPMONTH",2)
:setvar DAY rht("00!HPDATE",2)
:setvar EOF finfo("!send_file","EOF")
 
:echo !YR/!MTH/!DAY NUMREC: !EOF > send
 
put send !send_file.log
