HPDesk intrinsics include hpduser... intrinsics that may do what you need.
(I've only used the hpdgate... intrinsics so I can't say for sure).

We (3k) offer an API for NetMail (cmclogon) which allows you to
programatically logon/authenticate a mailbox. The API's available stand-
alone of as an add-on for existing netmail/desklink sites.
