If I recall, you can use Orbit's Backup+ to do appended backups to the same
DLT drive. They are getting up to 80 gig on these tapes with compression,
you would need to talk to them to get the latest. If they have released
their Delta backup, then that would also be an option for making the most
use of the tape space.

Subject: Unattended backups

We are currently running on an hp3k 928 with one 4gig dat drive with
compression. We run full system backups nightly m-f @ 2:00am.

I need the best solution to run full backups (UNATTENDED) sat and sun as
well.

Some suggestions were the addition of 2 more dat drives (I don't think
ourt system will support power to more than 4 devices and we already
have 3 disc drioves in addtion to the one dat drive) so this may not
even be an option.

Another suggestion: An external unit that will hold 5 or six tapes. (A
problem with this may be the HP3k's inability to subdivide the ldev to
distiguish one tape from another.

External, or third party backups are an option as well

Thank you for your help
