Ray,

You're right. The books are daunting. I thought the same thing. It is
impossible to find any good books on Oracle. After being used to the 3000
manuals nothing else measures up. But once you get started and learn the
basics (building tablespaces, tables, indexes) creating databases to replace
Image functionality is not bad. SQL takes some getting used to though. I
have been using a tool called TOAD from quest software that made the
transition a little easier (point and click stuff). With the Admin version
you can point and click your way through creating just about anything. It
saves a lot of typing and you can view the SQL code it is generating so you
can learn the syntax.

Good luck!

Just took at look at the 'Oracle 8i, The Complete Reference'...ugh! Damn
near need a fork lift to move the *&^%$ thing!!

I then went to the shelf to pull the trusty old Image manual...looked at the
Oracle manual, then the Image manual again...absolutely disgusting! I mean,
what the hell have they created?
