Hello Folks @ 3000-l,

Re: FTP Hang on MPE 7.0 (now long !)

----------------------------------------------Chris Schofield writes--
Hello everyone, We have a program that runs during the night (A400 MPE
7.0) attempts to FTP get a file from a MPE 6.0 HP3000. For the last
three nights the process has just stopped. The output file shows that
it is stopping at various points in the FTP script. We had to abort
the job. If I try the transfer manually, it works fine ! Any ideas ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just copied 700+ files from 7.0 to 6.0 and performed a logon/logoff
between each file transfer. My test suite is all files in @.PUB.SYS.
I ran this test in a loop for 16 hours, and I have not seen any
failures or hangs in 25 passes (* 700+ files per pass).

FYI: Patches installed on my machines:

7.0:
  NSTGD55A BT, INTGD33A BT, FTPGD93A BT

6.0:
  NSTGD70A BT, INTFDX2A BT, FTPGD91A BT

I would suggest you start by installing the current GR patches for
INT, NST and FTP but you might also want to consider the Beta Test
patches.

2 other thing to check:

1) Add a "debug" to your script to better understand the problem.
2) Check $stdlist of JINETD on the 6.0 machine for any errors in
   the FTPSRVR launch.

After this it is time to work with the HP-RC on tracing the problem,
but you certainly will want to have at lease the GR patches installed
before this effort.
