I'm an NT believer. I started several years ago with NT3.51, upgraded
to NT4.0 and just recently got a new Dell box with NT4.0 on it. I've
never had significant problems with NT locking my system up. NT does
love memory and more RAM begs more virtual memory. But I've had systems
running with 32 meg and concurrent applications of Outlook, IE4.0, Word,
Reflections and DevStudi. Other than slowed response time, the system
plugged its way through just fine. The response time bottleneck was
relieved by upgrading to 80 meg of RAM. Then it was processor speed
that was the bottleneck. My new Dell is a 350Mhz with 96 meg and its
like dream land. Seemingly instant response, etc.

I agree with the previous comment. Your NT problems are more likely
hardware or software configuration related rather than NT related.

One caution to be aware of. Use NT drivers. If you get a
manufacturer's driver, make sure it is NT compatible. Case in point, I
have a HP Deskjet 870Cxi printer. I use the NT Deskjet 855 driver
because it is the most current NT version I can find. The drivers on
the disk that came with the printer are not NT compatible.

I used NT 4.0 on PCs at HP in Atlanta for a year and
only rebooted twice
in that time. I use NT 4.0 workstation on my PC at my
office and I haven't
had to reboot but about once every 6 months. There must
be a bad
configuration or other problems at your site.
