It doesn't pay to try to stay up with the latest Y2K patches.

I installed the SMB patch and SAMBA quit working.  I now get the "your
server is being unfriendly" message and the SMB log shows "error
writing 4 bytes to client -1. exitting."  Now I cannot get anything
out of SMB.  NMB works fine.

I did the TESTPARM program, it was OK. We didn't change anything, just
installed the patch.

Does anyone know where to get a list of possible "unfriendly server"
issues?   After our problems with ODBC I tried to find ACD issues but
have not found any.

BTW, I was a user of Resource Sharing from HP for many years and it
was much faster than SAMBA (that was probably it's only advantage).
But HP has abandond it in lieu of SAMBA so I must get this working
(again) ASAP.
