I have a customer who currently has a Racal-Vadic 4850PA modem that they
use for RJE communication for file transfers. This modem can only
transmit as fast as 4800 baud. They would like to purchase a modem that
will provide all of the required features of the existing modem (BSC,
half-duplex, Bell 208/801 compatible protocols etc.) but transfer at
9600 baud.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a modem that they know will work.
The vendor that they send the data to recommended a Motorola V.3400
modem, but it only works in full-duplex mode. I do not want to recommend
another modem unless I know that it will work.
I sent the Racal-Vadic specs to Paradyne, and they recommend the
COMSPHERE 3920Plus. However, it does not provide 208 compatible
modulation (I'm not sure if this is required) so I am not comfortable
with this product either.
By the way, the HPRC has not been able to help.
I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations.
THANK YOU!
