We use data from an Informix database on Unix in an application on our hp3k
but it is currently in batch mode.

We have a visual basic program using ODBC which creates a flat file on the
PC once a day. Then the hp3k runs a job daily that ftp's that flat file to
the hp3k, then suprtool loads the data into an Image database for hp3k use.

For better currency, we are working on using a sockets connection between
the hp3k and the unix box to pull the needed data in real time. I've
prototyped this going from the hp3k using sockets to a PC which was then
using ODBC to accesss Informix. The prototype was easier than it will be
to write the unix program in C.

Informix has ADO drivers in their Software Developers Kit so the product
plugged by Pete Vickers on friday may be worth a look.

Mike Steffen
