Hello my friends,
I'm in a bind. If anyone can help it would be much appricated..
Friday night I had an update tape to run. I had a premenition
so before I started I ran a backup with these options.
!FILE T;DEV=12
!STORE @[log in to unmask]@;*T;ONVS=MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET;&
!DIRECTORY;SHOW;ONLINE=START;COMPRESS=HIGH;&
!INTER;PROGRESS=15
The back up ran fine, the update tape crashed. The problem is
that the update tape created some files, changed some files, and
deleted some files thorugh several accounts. I know the backup
is a good copy of our system before anything got changed.
What options do I use to restore from my tape saying "if it's
on the tape restore it, if it's on the system but not on the
tape then delete it". That should make our system and the backup
tape an exact copy of eachother....
Also when I do a restore I notice the spoolf files get
re-created with a new job number. There is two files for each
restored...
LPLASER #O8803 #J3091 P5121502 READY 3120 D 8 1
LPLASER #O8803 #J'3091 P5121502 READY 3120 D 8 1
Are there any other files that get "re-created". I'm wondering
becuse we're low on discspace and I don't want to make any new
un-nessesary files. If it's only the spoolfiles that do that
then I can just do a [log in to unmask] and not update that
directory. Right? I hope I'm not recreating a dupe of every file
on our system...
Sorry for the choppy messege, thanks for any help you can
provide,
Gehan Gehale
