There is a hp variable for current jobs limit (HPJOBLIMIT) .  with the job
queues which have been added with 6.0 and the ability of limits for each job
queue is there a way of retrieving the limit for a queue without parsing the
redirected output of the listjobq command?  Or the count of jobs executing
in a given queue?

It would be nice to have jobcnt maybe return this number but the selection
criteria does not seem to include the executing and jobq options.
