Chuck,

I can't see why there should be a problem in obtaining a FOS-based
PowerHouse license.

I admit, the only time a customer would normally consider switching from a
tier-based to a FOS-based license is when they are upgrading their current
machine, or replacing it with another. But this isn't a hard-and-fast rule.
I am curious as to why you would want to change to a FOS-based license if
you aren't upgrading/replacing the machine for which you currently have an
unlimited-user tier-based PowerHouse license?

Perhaps you could drop me a note outlining exactly what it is you want to
do?

Bob Berry and his team, based out of our Burlington office (1.800.4.COGNOS
ext.2270), are only too happy to discuss current and future requirements
with any of our PowerHouse customers. I'm sure that they can come up with
proposals that enable any customer to use the PowerHouse software the way
that they want to and, given the flexible licensing options that are
available, where the fees involved are never an issue.

Best regards,
Conrad

Subject: RE: upgrade fees - Cognos

My manager contacted Cognos about the FOS-based licenses and he was told
that we could not have it as it was meant for new customers or customers
upgrading their systems only. This seems to conflict with the paragraph
below that mentions a trade-in credit.

Has anyone else tried to switch?
