     We have succeeded on performing all the steps which Gbarnes listed,
     unfortunatelly we found that we don't have NETWARE/XL (HP32020)
     installed in our HP957sx

     When trying to connect by using MS-Access 2.0 or Excell we found
     message "Could not connect to Netware Server error 8".

     FYI, currently we are working in PC-LAN Netware which planned to be
     replaced by NT in the near future.

     Hope some of the guru's out there could give us the solution how to connect
     our PC-LAN (Netware and NT) into our IMAGE/SQL database.

     TIA

          The information for this is outlined in H/P's Technology
          Closeup Broadcast #3 book entitled IMAGE/SQL and
          Client/Server Tools. That having been said, I'll try
          to list the highlights:
          1) Look for the file HPPCAPI.PUB.SYS (about 6,500 sectors)
              This contains two API's: ODBC and GUPTA.
          2) On your PC make the directory HPPCAPI.
          3) Use whatever file transfer utility you have (WTQ,etc)
              and transfer HPPCAPI.PUB.SYS to C:\HPPCAPI\HPPCAPI.EXE
              BE SURE TO DO A BINARY TRANSFER. ASCII WON'T WORK.
          4) Get out of Windows, if you're in it, and CD to your
              HPPCAPI directory.
          5)  Execute the program HPPCAPI
          6) It will ask you to unpack to your current directory,
              answer Y. Two files will be created HPODBC.EXE and
              HPGUPTA.EXE
          7) Make two subdirectories - C:\HPPCAPI> MD ODBC
                                         C:\HPPCAPI> MD GUPTA
          8) CD to ODBC and execute ..\HPODBC (unpacks 20 files)
          9) CD to GUPTA and execute ..\HPGUPTA (unpacks 20 files)
          10) Here you can CD.. back to the HPPCAPI directory and
              delete everything to clear up disk space.
          11) I'll just cover ODBC. Start Windows again
          12) FILE / RUN C:\HPPCAPI\ODBC\SETUP and follow screens.
          13) Edit your ODBC.INI file:
              MMDBE=HP ALLBASE/SQL
              BATCH=HP ALLBASE/SQL
              musicdbe=HP ALLBASE/SQL
              Parts=HP ALLBASE/SQL
              Excel=Q+E ExcelFile
              xxxx=HP ALLBASE/SQL your database name at xxxx
          14) Transfer your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ODBCVIEW.HP file
              from your PC to your IMAGE/SQL Acct/group (ASCII mode)
          15) Start ISQL on your HP and CONNECT TO 'XXXXXXX'; database
                                        START ODBCVIEW;
                                        EXIT;
          16) In Windows, click MAIN, Click CONTROL PANEL,
              Click ODBC, Click ADD, Click HP ALLBASE/SQL,
              Enter the database name (same as in ODBC.INI

          You should be ready. Reply to me if you need more info.
          Sorry about being verbose.
