I received a call like that today --- "we'll set up your site free of
charge!!". Needless to say, we declined their offer <g>

You have several recourses. First, if there's nothing in writing, nothing
was agreed to. Tell them to remove the offending page or site, give them a
date, and threaten them with legal action for misuse of trademarks,
copyrights, or whatever else you can do.

Another thing you can do is to tell them that you want free space for a
year, that YOU will submit the site, and they will host it, as compensation
for their screw up. You then put the site together. I'd also try to get
them to register your domain name for you -- gratis, of course ;)

In short - if no one in your company gave authorization to put this
together, then they did it on their own and must bear the brunt of proof
that you indeed, ask for it. If they have no agreement, then they have no
proof... and you are in the clear.

Good Luck!

Best Regards,
Joe
