First of all, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my
question so quickly. I haven't been able to try every idea yet since I
spent most of my day(s) in meetings, but I will.

My first path I took, I reviewed each file and noticed that some of the
files contained COMP data. I remember a while back I tried to FTP some
files, and the FTP program had no idea what to do with the file. Even
with the BINARY option, the FTP program converted the COMP characters
into whatever it felt like, or what it thought it should be. For example

Notice the ^H and ^A characters? I then took a look at another file and
found that there was bad data in the data base (corrupted?) that also
caused this error. For example

Now I can easily delete the offending characters from these 3 records,
but the other files contained 1000's of records that I would have to
search through. My question is this, is there a way to transfer a file
to a 9000 that would not convert COMP fields to something other that
what it should be?
