We just upgraded to MPE/iX 6.0 pp2 and noticed a different behavior when,
using NBSPOOL, we try to access an 'open' spoolfile. It seems that the
first time the spool file is accessed by NBSPOOL the 'eof' is not accurate
(See attached screen dump below). In addition it seems that the 'eof',
from NBSPOOL's perspective is not being updated correctly as listing the
same spoolfile from NBSPOOL and 'SPIFF' shows a different number of records
(even though the display occurs a the same time on different terminals)
with NBSPOOL always lagging behind.

This problem was also occurring in version 5.5 pp6 of the OS and was
'fixed' in patch MPEKXL3.

QUEST is saying that they have not had any reports from their user base
that has gone to 6.0 about this problem and the RC is saying that said
patch never went 'GR' on 6.0. They want me to order it and thus 'assist'
in getting it to 'GR' status. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to put any
'beta' patches on our system, especially since QUEST is saying that their
records indicate that said patch has been superseded.

Any sites, out there, that had experienced this problem in 5.5, have gone
to 6.0 pp2 and have not seen the described symptoms?

Regards
Paul Christidis
