I understand the concern, but in this case am for the discussion getting
started.  *If* HP makes the announcement *and* the announcement includes making
MPE open source, then MPE has a much better chance of survival if there is a
plan very soon afterward and, perchance, an entity which is prepared to do the
necessary work to keep it alive (packaging, support, porting, perhaps).  If HP
makes that move, then time will be of the essence and getting started now is a
reasonable move.  If not, we've wasted parts of a couple of days and that won't
be much worse than what happens with some of the 3000-L OT posts :-).
