Usual suspect Michael G. makes public confession that he
has also lived on the cheap: ;-)

If Michael thought it was O.K., I am confident all will be well....
clean and quiet are the two main requirements;

This Motel 6 is close enough that even two-way taxi fare each
day is probably less than renting a car (unless you've got
some really good coupons)... if several people stay here and
we can share taxi, then daily transport disappears in the noise.
..... besides that, prior experience has shown that a number of
SIG3000 / IPROF alumni on corporate expense accounts are
many times more than willing to drop us cheapsters off on their
way to the higher rent district hotels.... :-)

SIDEBAR CA gripe; and another reason for not renting a car
in CA unless you have to: Apparently a few years ago the CA
Legislature passed a law that allows rental car agencies and
whoever etc. to ask for not only your "major credit card" and
driver's license, but *also* your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.
Last time I got rental car in CA most but not all were already
doing this.... I ain't giv'en no rental car receptionist all three
of those numbers unless I absolutely have no other choice;
that's making it as easy as possible for some shady character
to try and rip me off....
