I'll hazzard a guess that they didn't want people getting a good look at
the system for concealing the engine heat.  I think that's one of the reasons
it's so good at stealth.  Radar absorbing paint and angular construction
to reflect radar away is great, but if all they have to do is look for your
engines on an infrared camera, it won't do you much good.
