google still finds a couple of hits "right at the top" that sell the device [roughly $55], on the pricewatch.com page search for "converter parallel" and about 2/3'rds of the way down you'll find something from 3Ware priced at $43 (though most converters now are "serial ATA to parallel IDE converters", and of course several USB-to-parallel [or otherwise] converters -- my guess is that these folks will also have the old-fashioned :) serial-to-parallel converter you're looking for...
