Incidently, the discussions on the CBS Marketwatch board are quite
interesting - I'd be willing to bet that some additional support in the
letter-writing might be found there.
I recently posted the following regarding spin-doctoring and voodoo:

Amazing what the insertion of one little word does to a statement:

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- A day after winning FTC approval for its acquisition
of Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard had its corporate credit rating cut by
Standard & Poor's due in part to perceived business and financial risk if
the merger goes through.

HP Comments on Standard and Poor's Decision

3/7/2002 10:17:00 AM

PALO ALTO, Calif., Mar 7, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Hewlett-Packard Company
(HWP) today said the company was disappointed with Standard and Poor's
decision to lower its corporate and senior debt ratings on HP. S&P said
that irrespective of the company's proposed merger with Compaq, HP's rating
will be lower based on challenges in the company's computer hardware
business as well as potential business and management disruption if the
merger does not happen.

So where did that NOT come from?
