FWIW:
I have several WDOC files that my HPWORD fails to convert back to text using
the PRINT
feature of entry point WORDUTIL.
        :RUN HPWORD.PUB.SYS,WORDUTIL
        HP32119Z.05.06 HP WORD/3000 Copyright Hewlett-Packard Co. 1981,
1988.
        Select task:print

        HPWORD Print Document to ASCII File Task

        Name of document :appoesw
        This document is obsolete; edit it to force recovery. (WPERR 233)
        Name of document :

Note that my version of word is 5.06. On inspection of the WDOC file, (Label
0, byte offset 8, 6 bytes)
the document was created with HPWORD "A.02  ".

Using my favorite label editor I changed the WDOC version to "A.05  ".
Now the print feature works !!!!!!
